Sophie Tye 4 Performance Physio Treating a Client

Sophie Tye

My Physiotherapy career started back in 2010, graduating from Kings College London.
I completed my junior rotations in the NHS and moved into the private world of Physiotherapy, treating sports injuries in 2012, the same year I entered my first Triathlon - in truth very naively!

I have spent the best part of these years working with musculoskeletal injuries across a wide variety of sports. I have travelled internationally with sports teams and supported a great number of individual sportsmen and women through injury to performance in some amazing events.

My real passion lies at seeing progression, being there to guide and support an individual during an injury, throughout their recovery and witness them progress to the other side, be it to completing their first race, onto a Podium position, or simply getting back to sport once more.

Physiotherapy is at times a challenging profession, there is pressure to recoup an individual back to performance as quickly as possible. Whilst I appreciate these demands as an amateur athlete and having a few serious injuries myself, I also have the experience to know when to push on, and when to recede activity for the benefit of an individual’s longer-term health. This is something I pride myself on when considering management and treatment planning for athletes under 4 Performance.

Personally, I enjoy a sporting challenge, and after completing all distance triathlons, I now relish adventure racing and open water swimming. Being a Physio makes me acutely aware of what the human body can achieve, and I am always looking into new research to train, to condition the human body and ways to challenge the endurance element of performance.
