We’ve got another recipe from our Nutritional Therapist Steph... No-Bake Choco-Nut Protein Bars.
These bars are so quick easy to whip up, and will satisfy any chocolate craving!
High in protein and slow-release carbohydrates for blood sugar and energy balance.
Source of monounsaturated fats (healthy fats), for heart and cardiovascular health.
Source of magnesium for muscle health.
You’ll need:
4 heaped tbsp any type of nut butter (I used peanut)
3 tbsp honey or brown rice syrup
100g quality dark chocolate (70%+ cocoa solids), chopped into very small pieces
50g desiccated coconut (unsweetened)
200g oats
100g mixed finely chopped nuts and seeds (hazelnut, almond, pumpkin and chia here)
2 scoops of protein (vanilla or chocolate)
100ml milk (any type)
Directions:
Heat the nut butter and honey so it’s runny.
Combine the melted nut butter and honey with everything else in a large bowl, mix and then knead thoroughly.
Push down into a baking paper-lined tray (10”x8”).
Make sure everything is packed firmly - otherwise it’ll break up when you cut it.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or freeze until very firm, before cutting into 16 squares.
Store in the fridge or freezer in an airtight box.
.
Enjoy with a tea or coffee for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Or for a pre or post-workout snack.
